Your own Joinery site, on a server we run for you.
You tell us the domain you want — one you already own, or one we register for
you at cost — and subscribe. A few minutes later you sign in to your own site at
that domain, with email that sends and receives and offsite backups that run —
on our hosting, our mail provider and our storage. You do not open a cloud
account, an email provider account or a storage account. You do not read a
password off a server. If we register the domain there is no DNS record to
paste either; if you bring your own, we email you the one record to add.
Hosting is $12.99 a month from the day you sign up. There is no setup fee and
no trial, and you can cancel whenever you like.
Included: 1,000 emails a month and 10 GB of offsite backups. If your site is
ever lost, we rebuild it from those backups. They are sealed to a recovery key
that only you hold, so you approve the rebuild, and we cannot read what is in
them.
If you outgrow what is included, we point you at your own account for that one
service rather than selling you a bigger plan — there isn't one. And if you
ever stop paying, your site is shut down rather than deleted, and your backups
are kept for a further ninety days so nothing is lost while you decide.
Prefer to run it yourself? Joinery is free to self-host: the same software on a
server and accounts of your own. We will even do that install for you, free —
your cloud account, your bill, your root password.
